The world was shocked when the plane carrying the UN Secretary General was shot down over Congo in 1961. Awarded the Nobel peace prize in the same year, Dag Hammarskjold's death robbed the world of a dedicated peacemaker. Hammarskjold is also remembered as a christian mystic. A book of his reflections, taken from his journal, was published postumously as Markings which is recommended to Labour supporters by Keith Vaz MP. Roses Are Read is the site for book lovers who support the British Labour Party and the site for Labour supporters who love books. It is like a bunch of people who meet over a drink to chat about books they have read, books they want to read and books they want to find - except it is online. So mine's a biography and a white wine. Cheers.
